The 2005 San Diego NOOD was hosted by San Diego Yacht Club  SDYC burgee

Summary

This years competition took place on the ocean waters outside of San Diego harbor, about a mile south of Point Loma.  There were five races scheduled over the weekend with no throw outs allowed.  Three boats from Fleet 155 made the trip south for an exciting weekend of racing.  San Diego Yacht Club performed another excellent job of managing the race courses the entire weekend as well as the facilities ashore.

The first three races took place Saturday under dark cloudy skies that occasionally rained on the competitors.  The wind was strong and the sea was a little bumpy too which kept the crews in their foul weather gear.

Sunday chased the rain away, but the wind was still strong and the sea state was still quite choppy.  Splash gear was still the order of the day.

The last race found USA 5208 challenging Jaded and hoping a few others would finish between them so they could win on points.  However their fighting was so agressive, two other boats got away from them to finish first and second.  Even though Jaded finished third, they still had the lowest point total and won their class.  Congratulations to Deke Klatt and his crew!
