The first of five races started with a light breeze that averaged four knots. By the time the fifth race was completed, the average wind speed was fourteen knots. The moderate swell seen at the beginning became capped and strong enough to give a downwind assist by the end of the event.

The racing was close. Two finishers were decided by less than a second in one race. Four of the seven overall positions were determined by tie-breaking rules.
